We’re about leaving lasting impressions!
The Learning center uses The Creative Curriculum for infants, toddlers and two’s. The preschool classrooms use a combination of The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, the National Standards for Kindergarten, and the Metro Nashville Pre-K/K Assessment Portfolio to ensure that our preschool students are ready for Kindergarten. Our curriculum is designed to assist teachers in planning concrete and hands-on experiences which provide children knowledge of the world around them. In addition, we incorporate the use of American Sign Language to help encourage communication skills and early language development. Spanish is also introduced in the toddler and preschool classes. The Creative Curriculum offers a developmental continuum which proposes that skills and concepts unfold in a sequential fashion. In other words, each concept or skill is based on a previously acquired skill or concept. For example, a child will roll over, kick, creep, crawl, stand, step, and finally walk. Thus, each skill is built on the previous one. This happens when the child is ready for the skill at their own pace. Parents can track development and progress through our online curriculum where each child has an Individual

Child Portfolio
Our approach to facilitating learning is a combination of Traditional and Montessori Philosophies of educating young children. We firmly believe that each child develops at his or her own pace and that the needs of the “Whole Child” must be taken into consideration. Each aspect of a child’s life and entire being play a part in their development and are individually influenced and important. Developmental skills are not necessarily linked to chronological age. There are ranges of normal development. The Center’s objectives and entire curriculum are based upon the areas of development that are basic developmental characteristics of young children:

PHYSICAL/SENSORY - MOTOR
COGNITIVE - THOUGHT PROCESSES
LANGUAGE - VERBAL
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL - PERSONAL

The evaluation of each child is based upon the mastery of the objectives for the appropriate age group. To ensure the mastery of many concepts and for education and fun, field trips in the Nashville community are scheduled as appropriate. Teachers carefully balance child-initiated and teacher-directed activities in order to create learning experiences that children will enjoy. Lessons are planned to be age appropriate and individualized to meet the needs of the “Whole Child”. We strongly believe that when children are allowed to be self-directed and have many opportunities for self-discovery, they have the full experience of learning.
