Pastor Cynthia Gordon, M.Div. - Minister of Family Life

 

Pastor Cynthia born in Nashville, Tennessee, was educated in the public school system. After graduating from high school she entered Fisk University with a major in Political Science. While in her senior year pastor Cynthia heard and accepted the call to pulpit ministry and thus began preparation for ministry by earning the Master of Divinity degree from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in Atlanta Georgia, with concentration in Church Administration, Systematic Theology, and Christian Ethics. Pastor Cynthia interned at the Saint Elizabeth's Mental Health Hospital, in Washington D. C. completing three in tensed years of Clinical Chaplaincy and Clinical Pastoral Education, working in mental health areas ranging from acute mental illness to criminally insane. Pastor Cynthia further prepared herself by entering and completing the program to become a certified therapeutic adoptive, foster care parent and consultant. Pastor Cynthia holds ordination in both the United Church of Christ Church and the Baptist Church. In 2002 she was ordained and consecrated an Elder in the Apostolic Church. 

Pastor Cynthia has been a ground breaker for several ministerial opportunities. She was the first female to be licensed to preach at the Fountain of Faith Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. Pastor Cynthia was first female Assistant Pastor to serve at the Lincoln Temple Church in Washington, D.C. She and her husband were the first African American co-pastors with equal status in the pulpit to pastor the Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston Virginia. Pastor Cynthia is now the first female to serve as a staff pastor at the Temple Church, Nashville, Tennessee. She has served as a staff minister at the following churches: The University Park Baptist Church, Charlotte North Carolina, Bishop Claude R. Alexander Jr. Transformation Ministries, Baltimore Maryland, Bishop Monroe R. Sanders, The Bronx Christian Fellowship, Bronx New York, Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook, and the Greater Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte North Carolina, Bishop A. L. Jinwright. Pastor Cynthia currently serves in the position of staff pastor at the Temple Church, Nashville, Tennessee under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Darrell A. Drumwright. Pastor Cynthia is a planner, developer and implementer of church programs and community projects. Her experience as a minister is vast, her passion deep and her commitment unquestionable, she has been said to be a visionary for such a time as this. Pastor Cynthia has served on many boards and numerous committees.

Pastor Cynthia loves music and as a musician she has played and performed with the Fisk University Jazz ensemble and as a singer she ministered and sung with many gospel choirs as well as performed with the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers of Fisk University. Pastor Cynthia is a mother to one son, the love of her life Deprice age 18.
